When Underdog Wine Merchants was looking to package its artisan wines, it wanted something premium, convenient and eco-friendly. “This is the first time a collection of super-premium, artisan wines, representing some of the world’s best wine regions, has ever been offered in a premium wine cask format,” says Adam Richardson, director of international winemaking for Underdog Wine Merchants. The 3L bag-in-box wine format, called the Octavin Home Wine Bar, holds four bottles of wine and keeps the product fresh for up to six weeks after opening. The premium boxed wine format covers six brands and 10 varietals. By purchasing these bag-in-box wines, consumers reduce packaging waste by 92 percent and carbon emissions by 55 percent. Plus, they’re getting a better value because the packaging and shipping costs Underdog Wine Merchants saves is passed along to consumers. The octagon shape of the boxes also provides shelf standout for the brands.
