With the knowledge that food safety is an increasing concern for consumers, Kroger introduced its own traceable line of fresh salads. A 16-digit code printed on each Fresh Selections package allows consumers to learn where their produce was grown, its food safety status, and even where and when the product was packed, by entering the code at HarvestMark.com. While at the site, consumers can also offer feedback about the product. Part of Kroger’s “Quality You Can Trace” program, Fresh Selections salads are available in Kroger’s family of stores’ produce departments for $0.99 to $4.99, depending on the variety and market.
