Celebrity chef understands home cooks' needs

DCI Cheese Company has introduced a line of cheeses from celebrity chef Mario Batali in a freestanding, gusseted bag that lets home cooks access the bag freely while cooking. “The package design strongly differentiates from anything else going on in the shredded cheese segment,” says Martha Seidner of Smith Design, the brand design firm responsible for the project. The cheese blends include traditional shredded cheeses like parmesan and mozzarella but also more adventurous combinations like a mozzarella, provolone, fontina, Asiago and grana padano blend. Contemporary graphics and colors support the line’s fresh, premium and all-natural positioning. [Imagery and package design: Smith Design, www.smithdesign.com]
