Rolled Edge Paper Compact Wins Sustainability Award

Chicago Paper Tube's Rolled Edge Paper CompactChicago Paper Tube & Can Company, a leading manufacturer of round paperboard packaging, was recognized by the New Jersey Packaging Executives Club with a sustainability award this month. The manufacturer’s Rolled Edge paper compact won the Bronze Award and a Sustainable Package Award in Color Cosmetics. NJPEC honored Chicago Paper Tube’s winning package at its 34th Annual Package of the Year Awards Gala on November 15, 2012. Packages are judged on design excellence, shelf impact, uniqueness, cost effectiveness and graphic presentation.

Chicago Paper Tube developed its paperboard compact as an eco-friendly alternative to mass-produced plastic, glass and metal compacts. The 100 percent paperboard package was designed to securely hold a standard cosmetic pan, function as a reusable and reclosable container, and have a finished presentation that would help it stand out from its competitors. An inside platform elevates the product for ease of application. The all-paperboard compacts are reportedly made from more than 75 percent post-consumer recycled fiber, are completely biodegradable and compostable, and can house a wide range of products, such as eye shadow, blush and bronzer.
