NHS Hospital Creates Lotion to Raise Funds

The cream will be sold commercially.

My Trusty Little Sunflower CreamSalisbury District Hospital has become the first NHS hospital in Great Britain to create a moisturizing cream to sell commercially, with all profits to be re-invested back into patient care.

The sunflower oil based product was originally created by the hospital’s pharmacists and scientists as a moisturizing cream for plastic surgery and burns patients and has proved so popular with patients that the decision was taken to sell it to a wider public. My Trusty Little Sunflower Cream is based on the original product and now comes in two variants: unscented or with lavender essential oil. The product costs £6.99 for 100ml and is available at and from retail outlets within the hospital.

M&H manufactured the 35mm diameter flexible tubes which are topped off with a Softline fliptop cap and Flexo printed in house.

Lisa Roe of M&H says, “We are absolutely delighted to have been involved in this exciting new initiative. A pure white tube with a fliptop cap for ease of use was selected, and the branding has been kept simple yet effective with clever use of the word ‘Trust’. The sunflower image then subtly conveys the main essence of the cream.”

M&H has made significant investments in its tubes business over the last 18 months and can now manufacture and decorate over a million tubes a week.
