LAND O LAKES Sour Cream, Cottage Cheese and Dip Products

The products are packaged in new curved bottom structures.

Land O LakesLAND O LAKES sour cream, cottage cheese and dip products are arriving on retailer shelves throughout the upper Midwest in innovative, new packaging. The packaging concept, developed and used in Europe, provides several consumer benefits.

"The curved bottom profile of these packages allow consumers to easily scoop up every last bit of the wholesome LAND O LAKES sour cream, cottage cheese and dip products they have come to enjoy," says Rob Hollandsworth, group vice president of Dean Foods, which has a licensing agreement to use the LAND O LAKES brand on milk and cultured products, and other products for the dairy case. "Customers also tell us they love how the packages stack very well in their crowded refrigerators."

"We did not change the formulas that customers have known for years," adds Hollandsworth. "We are now delivering the same great products in a fun and versatile new package."

Consumer research verified that the new packages are convenient for scooping up the product with a spoon, a chip, a vegetable, a cracker, or other ways. Research also verified that consumers find the new packaging’s “stackability” a real benefit. And lastly, the new packaging concept addresses environmental concerns about recyclability and sustainability.

"As a supplier to most major retailers throughout the country, Dean Foods accepts its responsibility to deliver products that are friendly to the environment," says Lee Falk, vice president of logistics for Dean Foods.
