EquateMJS Packaging announces that its work with partner Essel Propack America has resulted in two Tube of the Year awards. There were fifty entries in five market categories submitted by member companies to the Tube Council.

Equate Beauty Acne Foaming Wash, a Walmart brand, won the Best Pharmaceutical Tube Award. Working with Essel Propack America, MJS Packaging helped create the silver foil decoration along with the flexographic high-end printing with hot foil to achieve a special look. In addition, this tube features a plastic barrier laminate that was custom constructed to maintain the stability and strength of Benzoyl Peroxide used in the product. A 2-inch dispensing cap completes the package. The tube not only regains its shape after squeezing but also stands out on the crowded retailer’s shelves.

MJS Packaging worked again with Essel Propack America on Rexall Lubricating Jelly, earning a runner-up award in the pharmaceutical category. The key was providing a tube with an intricate flower design that had to match the carton exactly. A direct-print, wet-on-wet process was used, which was more complex and could have led to color contamination or bleeding. The tube was made of an extruded plastic mono polyethylene material along with the 6-color offset printing. The finished product was light-weight to allow effortless squeezing and dispensing, and a stand-out on the shelf due to its vibrant colors not often seen in generic over-the-counter items.
