Onion have joined forces to launch a co-branded line of limited edition
sodas. Each 12-ounce glass bottle features a black and white newsprint-inspired
label with a classic Onion headline and image, including “Work Friend Actually
Becomes Real Friend,” “War on String May be Unwinnable” and “Novelist Strike
Fails to Affect Nation Whatsoever.” The sodas, which come in green apple, root
beer and strawberry lime, are sold exclusively in six-packs at
www.myjones.com and
www.store.theonion.com.
“The Onion and Jones
share a lot of the same youthful and lighthearted fans, so it was a natural
partnership”, said Mike Spear, director of marketing at Jones Soda. “We picked
some of our best-selling flavors, The Onion picked their favorite headlines,
and we married them together.”
