Just Out

South Africa > Bob's Your Uncle

South African winery Boer & Brit has launched Bob’s Your Uncle, a Cabernet/Merlot blend housed in 550mL brown beer bottles, complete with a crown cap. The concept, the old-school color palette, and the way the company integrated the barcode on the back label with a graphic of the brand character “Bob” takes any pretense out of consuming the wine, which the winery encourages drinkers to, like beer, enjoy it straight from the bottle. The brand’s manifesto? Carafes are boring. Box wines are lame. PET is plastic. Corks can taint. We don’t like etched graphics of old manor houses. We don’t want to drink an entire bottle of wine in a restaurant. Wine should be fun.
